Specialist Surgical Practice

Charles was awarded his M.Med.Vet degree in 1985 and was registered as a Small Animal Specialist Surgeon by the New Zealand Veterinary Council in 2000.

The referral practice has provided a service in Northland from that time.

Cases referred from other vets are usually of a complex nature that cannot be performed by general practice vets.

These cases range from spinal decompression to severe fractures, joint reconstruction and fusion to soft tissue procedures, ie: advanced cancer surgery, chest and abdominal surgeries.

A large proportion of referrals are mainly cranial cruciate ligament ruptures, where a closing wedge TPLO technique is the procedure of choice.

Most procedures are undertaken following a referral consultation from your regular veterinarian.

Post surgery reports are sent to your vet informing them of the diagnosis, treatment and the follow-up care that may be required.
